ㅐ ae as in amen
ㅒ yae as in yay
ㅔ e as in amen

Korean Study Tips

♦   There is essentially no difference between the pronunciation of ㅐ and ㅔ.

♦   There is essentially no difference between the pronunciation of ㅒ and ㅖ.

♦   Remember that vowels with two small lines attached are pronounced with a “y” ex. ㅑ,ㅛ,ㅒ, ㅖ.

♦   These are vertical vowels and therefore are placed to the right of the first consonant in a syllable ex. 개, 데, 먜, 셰

Korean Study Tips

♦   Not all of the syllables in this table are used in words.

♦   If a final consonant(받침) is added after a Korean vowel in set 3, it goes directly below the first two letters. ex. 했, 셀

♦   Remember, there is essentially no difference between the pronunciation of ㅐ and ㅔ.

♦   Remember, there is essentially no difference between the pronunciation of ㅒ and ㅖ.

♦   Also, remember that vowels with two little lines are pronounced with a “y” sound.
